Business Development and Capital Raising for Hedge Fund Managers

E.L.K. will represent a very select and limited number of hedge fund managers seeking marketing and capital raising guidance. Upon being hired by a manager, E.L.K. becomes deeply involved in the visualization and execution of an institutional-quality marketing and sales campaign. We often wear the “investor hat” when reviewing managers, thereby looking for the following qualities:

  • Highly differentiated with a sustainable investment edge and scalable
  • Motivated and incentivized senior team with unique skill sets
  • Minimum five year track record reflecting strong risk adjusted returns and propensity to preserve capital while generating meaningful alpha
  • Solid regulatory history and affiliation with reputable service providers
  • Protocols and mechanisms for mitigating risk
  • Meaningful GP alignment
  • An appreciation for pro-active and transparent communication with investors

Managers may include: Global Macro Systematic/Quantitative, Discretionary and Active Trading; Directional Volatility and Arbitrage; Algorithmic Currency and Listed Derivatives; Systematic Managed Futures; Multi Strategy; Equity Fundamental Value, Structured Notes and Credit, Quantitative Directional, and Merger Arbitrage.

Our goal is to articulate why an investor should add the manager to its portfolio. We craft the marketing message and then deliver it as a sales strategy to investors, which include:

  • Public and Private Pension Funds
  • Endowments and Foundations
  • Sovereign Wealth Funds
  • Funds-of-Funds
  • Consultants and Investment/ Wealth Managers
  • Family Offices and High Net Worth Individuals
